Hi, I'm Carson from Greenbrier, Arkansas.

I love movies, gaming, anime and participated with my high school competitive archery team.

Carson was initially diagnosed with autism at 2. He began having seizures at 4. We were followed closely for many years with multiple types of seizures that were difficult to control. We have had very good support from the developmental pediatricians and neurologists at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Recently, our neurologist requested another round of genetic testing. This revealed the SCN2A mutation. Having this valuable information regarding Carson’s diagnosis has been very helpful in explaining his multiple diagnoses. As we are actively planning transition into adulthood, having additional information is allowing us to address specific needs related to SCN2A.

Carson recently graduated from high school where he attended general education classes with special education supports. He graduated as an Arkansas Scholar from the Arkansas Business and Education Alliance with GPA requirements, attendance of at least 95% and taking specified math, science and English courses. He competes with his high school archery team and has lettered in shooting sports. He has attended Inclusion Films film camp for two years and enjoys moving making and editing. He will be completing two additional years at his high school to participate in additional job training through their OWL Program.

Our goal is to find a cure!

Did you or your child just receive a new diagnosis of SCN2A? If so, please know you are not alone!
